Automatic Renewals

To improve convenience to patrons, Delta County Libraries has implemented automatic renewals for most library items.

Items eligible for renewal will automatically renew three days before their due date, extending their loan periods from their original due dates.

Most library items will auto-renew, including materials owned by other libraries and checked out through Delta County Libraries, but there are exceptions. Items will NOT be renewed if:

    • The item is special equipment, such as Colorado State Parks passes or outdoor gear, or if the item is considered a 3D object, such as Hotspots or Chromebooks, which are nonrenewable.
    • The item is downloadable material (Overdrive and Libby do not allow for auto-renewals).
    • There is a hold or recall on the item.
    • The item has reached its maximum allowable renewals (two renewals).
    • Patron account charges have exceeded $10.
    • A library card is expired or suspended.
    • The item is checked out through Prospector or Interlibrary Loan. Those items are not eligible for auto-renewal.

How do you know when something you’ve borrowed has auto-renewed? When an item’s due date is approaching, you will receive an Email Notice from the Library three days before the item’s due date. The notice will reflect checked-out items that have been automatically renewed and those that cannot be renewed.

At this time, if you are not set up for email notifications you will need to call your local library, or log in to your account to check due dates and auto-renewals.

If you don’t currently receive email notices from Delta County Libraries, you can sign up by logging in to your library account and clicking Account Settings, or you can visit any library location for staff assistance.

We hope you enjoy this new auto-renewal service from Delta County Libraries!

Information about passwords

Why do I need a password to access my library account?

We take your privacy very seriously. Passwords provide an extra layer of security to your library account, protecting reading history and personally identifiable information. Colorado law also requires that “reasonable steps” be taken to protect personally identifiable information. The implementation of passwords for access to patron data is a reasonable step.

Can I still use my library card if I forget my password?

Yes. You can still use your library card for in-library checkouts at the circulation desk.

How do I reset my password?

Go to your library account and click on “reset my password.”

Enter your library card number and click on the “Reset My Password” button. An email containing a link to reset your password will be sent to the email address associated with your library card.

How do I reset my password if I don’t have an email address?

If you do not have an email address associated with your library account, you will need to contact library staff to have your password reset.

Tips for creating a unique password.

We strongly encourage you to set up a unique password of mixed characters in order to better protect your personally identifiable information.

  • Passwords must be 6 to 30 characters in length.
  • Passwords can include numbers, letters, or special characters.
  • Passwords may not include repetitive sequences or more than two repeating characters. For example 123123 or aaabcd.
  • If you try to create a password with repetitive sequences or repeating characters, you will receive a notice that your password has not been updated with guidance for correcting the error.
