The Nature Connection (TNC) and Delta County Libraries have partnered to bring more opportunities to explore and play outside in and around Delta County.  New in 2020, the Cedaredge Library has a fleet of snowshoes available to borrow. The mission of this partnership program is to provide affordable access to high-quality winter recreation equipment to Delta County residents of all ages as a gateway to winter recreation activities.

  • Who can borrow equipment?

    • Borrower must be 18 years or older with a valid DCL library card.

    • Patron can borrow up to four (4) sets of snowshoe equipment on their library card for family members, friends, etc.

  • How do patrons borrow equipment?

    • Patron must check out equipment during library open hours at least one (1) hour before closing.

    • Patron can borrow equipment for one (1) week.

    • Patron cannot renew equipment.

    • Patron can view available snowshoes—sizes, etc.—on DCL website’s catalog (click here) or by calling the Cedaredge Library (970-399-7674).

    • Patron cannot place holds or reserve equipment. Equipment is loaned on a first-come, first-served basis.

    • Patron must complete a Snowshoe Lending Contract.

    • Equipment is available only at the Cedaredge Library Gear Hub. Cedaredge Library staff will help borrower retrieve the equipment.

    • TNC and DCL cannot guarantee the availability of all equipment sizes and lengths.

  • How do I know which gear is appropriate for me?

    • Library staff will provide a sizing guide for snowshoe equipment.

      • Snowshoes and Poles:  Guides use height and weight to provide an appropriate size for patron.

  • Is there a lending fee?

    • There is a $10 suggested donation to TNC, per equipment set (snowshoes and/or poles) for a one (1) week checkout period.

  • What if I am late returning the equipment or lose or damage it?

    • Late Poles: $10 per day

    • Late Snowshoes: $10 per day

    • Damaged Poles: $15.00 per pair

    • Damaged Snowshoes: $30.00 per pair

    • Lost Poles: $30.00 per pair

    • Lost Snowshoes: $60.00 per pair

  • How do I return or check-in the equipment?

      • All equipment must be returned to the Cedaredge Library one (1) hour prior to the library closing on the day it is due. Due date will be one (1) week from borrow date.

      • If the Cedaredge Library is closed due to holiday or other circumstance, equipment will be due on the next day the Cedaredge Library is open.

      • All late equipment will have a fee of $10 per day applied, with a maximum library card fine of $50. Items not returned one (1) hour prior to the library closing will be checked in the following open day and a late fee will be applied.
