Water Conservation in the North Fork Valley

July 17 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm MDT

Join us for an informative talk about water conservation and how we use water in the North Fork Valley.

Join us at the Paonia Library on Wednesday, July 17 for an informative talk about water conservation and how we use water in the North Fork Valley.

This presentation is being provided by Paul Kehmeier of the Colorado Department of Agriculture and will help attendees understand how water is used in our area and throughout Western Colorado. We’ll consider some tradeoffs as we seek to be good stewards of the water. Along the way we’ll delve into some of the terms heard in water conversations and help clear up commonly held misconceptions about the terms.

Paul Kehmeier is the western Colorado Salinity Program Coordinator for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. His job is to help ditch companies put together funding packages to improve their irrigation systems and in so doing decrease the amount of salt going into the Colorado River from the ditches. Paul grew up on his family’s farm near Eckert where he irrigates and raises hay as time allows. Paul holds a master’s degree in Range Science from Colorado State University.
