“Stolen Heart” Book Talk

July 7, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm MDT

Join us at the Cedaredge Library for a book talk and signing of Stolen Heart, a novel by local author K.L. McKee, on Thursday, July 7 at 1:30pm. McKee will talk about the writing process, where ideas come from, and character development. She will discuss her influences growing up in Paonia, her North Fork series, and her novel, Stolen Heart, which was a finalist for the 2020 Colorado Humanities Book Award for Romance. Questions from the audience and book signing will follow.

About the Author: K. L. (Karen Lea) McKee has had a passion for writing since she was a young girl. After raising two rambunctious boys and earning her B.A. in English from Regis University, she renewed her desire to write faith-based stories. Karen worked in the Reference Center of the Mesa County Library for twenty-nine years, retiring in 2014 to pursue writing full time. She and her husband reside in Western Colorado, known for its fruit orchards, wineries, majestic mountains, spectacular canyons, and strikingly beautiful desert terrain. She enjoys knitting, music—playing and singing—the beautiful Western Colorado outdoors, and spending time with her family.

Karen McKee was born and raised in Paonia, Colorado, graduating from Paonia High School in 1965. She married Paonia native Steve McKee in 1966. Her roots in the North Fork Valley run deep, as her mother was born in Eckert, Colorado and her dad in Crawford, Colorado. The North Fork valley seemed a fitting setting for her North Fork series. Stolen Heart is the second book of the North Fork series and was a finalist for the 2020 Colorado Humanities Book Award for Romance.
