Genealogy Class: DNA Research

November 21, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm MST

Adults are invited to Delta Library for a Genealogy Class taught by Jerry McHugh.  The fifth class in the series is “DNA Research”.  Participants will learn how to use DNA test information available from Ancestry, Gedmatch, MyHeritage, 23andMe, Family Tree DNA, and other sources.  Leave with more information in your personal family tree on Thursday, November 21 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

Jerry McHugh has more than 30 years experience in genealogy. His family tree includes more than 30,000 people and goes back as far as the 9th century (21 generations). He is a third generation native of Cedaredge, and his Great Grandfather was one of the original settlers in Escalante canyon before moving his family to the Surface Creek Valley in 1891. Jerry’s 2nd cousin Joyce got him interested in genealogy when she created a tree focused on his 2nd great grandparents. He is currently writing a book about the pioneers who settled in the Surface Creek Valley and their families.
