Talk: From Small Seeds Mighty Gardens Grow

April 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm MDT

Join us on April 10 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm for a discussion with local grower, Mark Waltermire.

Mark runs Thistle Whistle Farm in Hotchkiss, growing a surprising and diverse mix of vegetables and herbs, emphasizing varieties with distinctive flavors and histories. The farm also hosts a wide array of workshops and educational programs for all ages.

Mark will talk about his favorite varieties of herbs and vegetables, identifying ones that grow well on his farm and have the flavor and history he looks for in his selections. He will discuss seed sources and specifics on how to grow the produce he suggests, capitalizing on nearly 20 years of failures and successes here in the North Fork Valley. Questions are welcome, including ones on other gardening and farming topics.

The farm includes dairy goats, bees, chickens and ducks, along with over 150 varieties of peppers and a similar number of heirloom tomato varieties. Thistle Whistle Farm has been supplying produce to the North Fork community since 2005.
