Art @ Hotchkiss Library

November 24, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm MST

Visit the Hotchkiss Library to check out some local color and art!  Artists Linda Aubery & Susan Humphrey capture unique perspectives in landscapes that highlight nature’s beauty.  On display during open hours through January 2022.

Linda Aubery: Art has been a part of my life from an early age. I had such encouragement from family and teachers and art instructors that it was a natural plan for me to seek a degree as a Commercial Artist from Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana. I’ve worked as a free lance artist, Advertising Manager, artist for a newspaper and a college’s Audio Visual Technician. I even had my own ad agency for a short time. I’m currently retired as an ordained Children’s Pastor (for about 25 years). Each summer I would teach kids different forms of art at a weekly Festival of the Arts. I have directed 5 different puppet teams winning several gold medals in competition. I was also a Gospel Chalk Artist carrying on an old art form Missionaries have used. I am a member of the Delta Fine Arts and the Black Canyon Camera Club and on the Board of the Creamery Arts Center in Hotchkiss, CO. Since retiring, I am now teaching out of my art studio in Delta. My favorite mediums are oils, acrylics and alcohol inks. I paint on saw blades, iron skillets, canvases, walls, wood and gourds. Coming to Colorado has so inspired me I am learning photography. Scrapbooking, crafting of all sorts, and quilting keep me very busy.

Susan Humphrey: The beauty of Colorado is my spirit! For someone to enjoy my artwork, is like looking into my heart and sharing something that is so personal, I keep it guarded at times. I use my photography as a record of the history, as well as the awesome beauty of the area. I remember all of the family stories about moving cattle around the area, the wildlife seen and the accidental rodeos along the way. I love the way that you can stand in the high alpine and see the desert adobes in the distance. The more art I create, the more amazing detail I see. I especially like to capture the landscapes and ranch life; I have also become fascinated with the mustangs in Sand Wash Basin in Northwestern Colorado. I hope that you enjoy visiting Colorado through my eyes and art!  I am a native of Montrose and was raised on a ranch near the Black Canyon National Park. My husband, Dan and I have lived our entire lives in the area. We have many interests and are agriculturist. The Western Slope supplies the content of my art and is dear to us
