May 16 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm MDT

The CU Playback Improv ensemble joins us at the Stolte Shed for Story Share.

Local historian Jerry McHugh’s family story will be represented by a video, a story read aloud by local author Don Benjamin, visual art by a local artist Barbara Torke, and a performance by the CU Playback Improv ensemble. Audiences have loved past performances by the group, and this one will have a special connection to the history of Surface Creek Valley.

Where can you find community history, sidesplitting improv, creative writing and captivating artistry all at once? At the Blue Sage’s StoryShare! We begin by honoring and preserving our roots through video recordings of the personal stories of long-time families in the North Fork Valley. Then we invite writers and artists to interpret those stories with their own creative flair.

These efforts culminate in a pack-house event where you, and the Boulder improv group Playback Theatre, meet the families, hear the stories, and see the art. Then the performing artists provide their own wild, hilarious, moving take on what they’ve witnessed. It is an event like no other.

Please join us for the third annual StoryShare, sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute, which this year will be documenting the event for their exhibit “Crossroads: Change in Rural America.”
